A FAMILY DISPUTE.
Wellington, February 3rd 1909.
Augustus Baggarley appeared at the police court this morning on a charge
of using behavior whereby a breech of the peace might have been
occasioned. The evidence showed that the accused lived with his wife at
Carterton. Owing to a difference the wife came to Wellington. The
accused followed and met her in Sydney Street, accompanied by her
brother and sister. The brother threatened to strike Baggarley, and the
latter drew a loaded revolver and threatened to shoot him and then take
his own life. Council for the accused said that the dispute had been
fixed up, and the parties intended to live together again. A fine of 20
shillings was imposed, and the accused bound over to keep the peace
towards his brother in-law for 6 months.
