A one time horse drawn bus driver who went onto own his own cab whilst
also owning and running a general store, together with his daughters, in
Brooksby Street. The shop was damaged, during world war two, when the
house in Liverpool Road, at the corner of Brooksby Street, next to the
shop, took a direct hit.
On leaving the shop Albert became a licensed victualler as landlord of
the William The Fourth, 84 Thornhill Road, Islington. Paying The Cannon
Brewery Co Ltd a bond of £500.00. Here the whole family joined into help
with running the public house, even Keith, his grandson, at the age of
three would help out collecting glasses.
